The speed, cost and performance benefits of insulated concrete block (ICB) building systems have been made abundantly clear over the last four decades, however the traditional method of manufacturing these composite blocks is expensive and does not provide the scale of production necessary to be competitive in the marketplace.
In 2008, Bautex began developing a faster, more accurate, and less expensive way to make ICB products. The result was a fully automated manufacturing process that produces 1,600% more product than previous technology requiring only 25% of the manufacturing personnel. Product accuracy, consistency, and quality control provided by the new process enabled Bautex to achieve building code recognition from international building code authorities.
Bautex has received five U.S. patents on the process of manufacturing insulating concrete blocks.
