Construction is near completion for the Fish America Building at the Texas Parks & Wildlife Marine Development Center in Corpus Christi, Texas. This one-story facility is used for a saltwater fish hatching program that supports recreational and commercial fishing activities along the Texas Coastal Bend region.
The building was designed for harsh environments, both inside and outside the building. Bautex Blocks and a hollow core concrete roofing system was selected for cost savings and for long-term resilience to windstorm and corrosion. Bautex Air and Moisture Barrier and exterior abuse-resistant stucco systems were also used on the project to keep costs in check and produce a robust and long-lasting asset for the state.
The project switched to Bautex over precast insulated concrete and reinforced double tee concrete roof system due to cost and timing, as Bautex provided significant savings and reduced construction time on the project.
Construction is anticipated to be completed early in 2019.
