Seeing is Believing: South Texas Professionals Find a Simpler, Faster, Better Way to Build

Construction in the state of Texas is booming. Owners, architects, engineers and general contractors are feeling the pressure of delivering projects on time and within budget, while meeting more aggressive building codes and owner requirements.

The level of construction activity in the state has driven up the cost of materials and driven down the available supply of labor and skilled trades, which makes it a real challenge to project budgets and schedules.

South Texas has not been immune to this problem, but for about four dozen San Antonio area building professionals, things have become a lot simpler.

Simpler is Faster

One of the first comments that we heard from attendees of the April 25th Bautex Wall Build Demonstration was how fast the wall goes up: an 8 foot by 8 foot wall was installed in a matter of minutes. Duane Holloway, Construction Support Manager for Bautex, makes the Bautex wall build look easy, but it’s clear that the Bautex Wall System is just simpler and faster no matter who is building the walls.

The main takeaway for many of the building professionals listening to the presentation and watching the wall build demonstration, is the economy of steps required to construct a building with Bautex. In one system, the structure, enclosure, insulation and air and moisture protection are completed using a single trade.

Simpler is Better

Chris Leonard, Director of Operations and Technical Services at Bautex, feels that making the design and construction process simpler, faster and more cost effective are the primary benefits of the Bautex Wall system. However, there is value for everyone in using Bautex:

  • Architects can design the complete building envelope in one integrated system, making the project simpler and construction more likely to be performed accurately in the field.
  • Engineers are familiar and comfortable with the flexibility of designing with concrete: one of the most robust and durable ways to build.
  • Contractors benefit from faster construction and a simplified construction schedule with one trade being responsible for the entire structure and wall envelope.
  • Owners save money, get in their building faster, and end up with a more valuable and longer-lasting asset.

Simpler, Faster, Better Construction

During the demonstration event in San Antonio, the benefits of the Bautex Wall System over conventional construction really stood out for attendees. The most common wall assembly that came up for comparison was structural steel with light-gauge metal framing. A typical assembly of this design includes five or six different materials that are installed by three or four separate trades.

The time and money saved by reducing the number of steps and eliminating some of the trades is significant. For owners, the finished project built with Bautex is superior to any type of light framing system, giving them a better investment starting from day one.

One of our guests texted photos of the wall build demonstration to his home office saying, One guy built all this in 10 minutes while talking to us!” Participants felt that the time spent at the demonstration was a great investment. It’s difficult to fully appreciate the power and promise of the Bautex Wall System without being there while it is being constructed. Seeing truly is believing.

If you weren’t able to join us in San Antonio, please consider meeting us in Dallas on May 22 or in Fort Worth on May 23 to see the Bautex Wall System up close and hear more about how you can use our system in residential applications.
