JA Greene Construction Builds Medical Office for Texas Surgical Dermatology

Over the past few years, a healthy por­tion of JA Greene Con­struc­tion Ser­vices’ projects have been in the med­ical field. This year, Texas Sur­gi­cal Der­ma­tol­ogy, PA chose the Hous­ton-based design/​build gen­er­al con­trac­tor to over­see the design and con­struc­tion of its newest med­ical office build in Spring, TX, designed by CDA Archi­tects. ASA Dal­ly Struc­tur­al Engi­neers and Out­lier Engi­neer­ing served as the struc­tur­al engi­neers, and GWS Ser­vices, Inc. was the installing con­trac­tor on the project.

The build­ing own­er, Dr. Tri Nguyen, is board cer­ti­fied in der­ma­tol­ogy and is fel­low­ship trained in Mohs surgery, the gold stan­dard for treat­ing skin can­cers. Dr. Nguyen want­ed to incor­po­rate feng shui tech­niques into his new build­ing and also build a sus­tain­able office, using as many Texas-based com­pa­nies and mate­ri­als as pos­si­ble. In addi­tion to a more sus­tain­able build­ing, Bau­tex System’s insu­lat­ed con­crete wall sys­tem also cre­ates more com­fort­able, ener­gy-effi­cient, stronger and safer build­ings.

Jonathan Greene, own­er of JA Greene, cites Bau­tex Block as a low­er-cost option than con­crete tilt walls. He notes that it has a high­er insu­la­tion val­ue over tra­di­tion­al con­crete, and, says that once trained on the sys­tem, it is sim­ple to install.

Texas Sur­gi­cal Der­ma­tol­ogy, PA plans to move into the new facil­i­ty in late-August 2016.
