Bautex expands engineering roster

Enthusiasm for concrete structures makes Stephen G. Urias, PE a solid resource for new projects

Stephen G. Urias, P.E., principal of 13th Level Structural Engineers, PLLC in San Antonio, Texas, is Bautex Systems’ newest consulting engineer, available to provide project teams with plans for Bautex Wall Systems or to serve as the Engineer of Record on their projects.

His interest in working with Bautex Systems stems from his extensive knowledge of reinforced concrete design and his experience providing construction documents utilizing conventional insulated concrete forms (ICFs) in commercial construction (which includes a multi-story courthouse, a church and multiple bank locations). Concrete is my material of preference when designing, it has a great way of redistributing loads through the structural system and its appearance can be versatile. It’s been used effectively for centuries and it has been a proven material for constructing various systems quickly and efficiently,” he says.

Urias sees a growth opportunity for Bautex’s insulated concrete block and is eager to assist on new projects. The current buildings with Bautex Block are only scratching the surface,” he says. I’m looking forward to engineering new projects in which these walls can be used as the primary lateral load resisting system is taller building applications.”

He is a licensed P.E. in Texas and is studying for his LEED AP BD+C exam. He holds a B.S. and M.S. in Structural Engineering from the University of Texas San Antonio.
