San Mar­cos, Texas — In its July/​August 2015 issue, Texas Archi­tect lauds the ren­o­va­tion and new facil­i­ties at Sea Scout Base Galve­ston in Lessons by the Sea” writ­ten by Eri­ka Hud­dle­ston. Sea Scout Base Galve­ston is a non-prof­it marine and mar­itime edu­ca­tion­al cen­ter offer­ing aquat­ic edu­ca­tion pro­grams that instill life­time lead­er­ship, team­work skills, and inde­pen­dence in body, mind and spir­it. In con­junc­tion with var­i­ous orga­ni­za­tions includ­ing the Bay Area Coun­cil of the Boy Scouts of Amer­i­ca, Sea Scout Base-Galve­ston pro­vides pro­grams for all ages. The ambi­tious project is the result of the com­mit­ment and vision of Charles and Rose­mary Doolin. Ran­dall-Porter­field Archi­tects spec­i­fied Bau­tex Block for the project struc­tures includ­ing the dor­mi­to­ry and Ranger House.
