San Marcos, Texas — In its July/​August 2015 issue, Texas Architect lauds the ren­o­va­tion and new facil­i­ties at Sea Scout Base Galveston in Lessons by the Sea” written by Erika Hud­dle­ston. Sea Scout Base Galveston is a non-profit marine and maritime edu­ca­tion­al center offering aquatic education programs that instill lifetime lead­er­ship, teamwork skills, and inde­pen­dence in body, mind and spirit. In con­junc­tion with various orga­ni­za­tions including the Bay Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Sea Scout Base-Galveston provides programs for all ages. The ambitious project is the result of the com­mit­ment and vision of Charles and Rosemary Doolin. Randall-Porter­field Archi­tects specified Bautex Block for the project struc­tures including the dormitory and Ranger House.
