BAUTEX AIR & MOISTURE BARRIERS
Bautex AMB 20 Air and Moisture Barriers provide an airtight and extremely energy-efficient building envelope that will meet and even exceed the code requirements of residential construction projects across all climate zones in the United States.
Fluid applied air and moisture barriers like Bautex AMB 20 are installed quickly and with minimal labor. Bautex AMB 20 is specially formulated to install quickly and completely cover the rougher texture of the Bautex Wall System, providing long-lasting building protection and energy efficiency.
Bautex AMB 20 air and moisture barriers are water-based formulations that are available in both water vapor-permeable (AMB 20-WP) and non-permeable (AMB 20-WN) options, giving architects the flexibility to meet the specific requirements of their projects.
BENEFITS OF BAUTEX AMB 20
|Water-based||No harmful odors or solvent fumes and no chemical needed to clean equipment.|
|Single Component||Allows for fast and easy application. Creates a monolithic protective barrier.|
|Vapor-permeable option||Prevents moisture from being trapped in the wall cavity by allowing controlled diffusion of water vapor inside framed wall assemblies.|
|Long-term UV exposure||Can be left exposed to UV up to 12-months, allowing for greater flexibility during construction.d|
|Excellent adhesion||Adheres to all common building surfaces, including sheathing, concrete, masonry.|
|Very low VOC||Water-based air and moisture barrier has VOC content less than 100 g/L.|
INSTALLATION OF BAUTEX AMB 20
The Bautex AMB 20 product is applied as a single-component system applied directly to the exterior wall substrate in a single 40 – 45 mil wet coat. Bautex AMB 20 can be applied quickly and efficiently to Bautex Block, concrete, concrete block (CMU) or exterior sheathing materials using airless spray equipment, paint rollers, or with trowels.
Bautex AMB 20 can be installed in a single spray application, but roller application will require two coats to get to the correct 20 – 25 dry mil thickness. AMB 20 is applied at 30 – 40 square feet of wall per gallon of material depending on porosity of the wall substrate (Bautex Block @ 30 sf/gal and Sheathing @ 40 sf/gal).
Bautex Air and Moisture Barrier AMB 20 can be purchased in 5‑gallon (18.9 liters) pails and 55-gallon (208.2 liters) drums.
BAUTEX AMB 20 TESTING
Fluid-Applied Air & Moisture Barrier
Bautex AMB 20 Air and Moisture Barriers have been laboratory tested to meet the minimum standards for wall air barrier assemblies as prescribed by the Air Barrier Association of America.
