The Opportunity

Austin Regional Clinic (ARC) is a well-regarded primary care provider and one of the largest professional medical groups in Central Texas. ARC Bee Cave was constructed to offer family doctor and pediatrician in the community of Bee Cave, a fast-growing suburb just west of Austin. The Kemp Properties and ARC teams chose Bautex walls for this clinic to provide quiet and comfortable spaces for staff and patients while keeping energy and maintenance costs low.

Key Design Features

Noack-Little Architects and Neel Morton Office of Architecture partnered on this project to give ARC their second facility using the Bautex Wall System. In 2016, staff at Austin Regional Clinic Cedar Park immediately noticed how quiet and comfortable their new medical building was and wanted to use the Bautex system again.

The Bautex Wall System was used for the majority of the building envelope on this single-story building, with final wall heights ranging from 16 to 20 feet tall. The Bautex walls integrated well with structural steel components of the building, including a 27 feet tall elevated roof structure and clerestory windows which dominates the view from the parking lot.

The architects designed the building with both vertical and horizontal articulations as well as used several distinct finishes to give the project a unique high caliber look. The use of Bautex Block and Air and Moisture Barrier allowed the primary wall system to remain behind all of the different finishes.

Conclusion

ARC knows that the quality and comfort of their facilities directly contributes to staff productivity and higher patient satisfaction. Using the Bautex Wall System allowed them to create a quieter, healthier, and more comfortable space in a cost-effective and practical way. They also benefit from low cost of operation and maintenance and long-term durability that would be difficult to achieve with conventional building systems.

Results

Quiet Spaces of Occupants

The sound reducing properties of the Bautex Wall System keeps noise from the busy nearby highway completely out of the building, making staff and patients happy.

Quality Patient Experience

The aesthetics, design and construction of this building work together to reinforce the feeling of quality medical care that they receive from ARC.

Low Energy Costs

Building right means significant long-term cost savings for air conditioning the building in the hot-humid climate of Central Texas.

Low Maintenance Costs

Solid, durable and well insulated and protected walls with abuse resistant finishes substantially reduce the cost of ongoing maintenance and repairs.
