Paul Brown brings leadership, commitment and enthusiasm to his role as president of Bautex Systems. A serial entrepreneur, he earned his undergraduate degree from the Plan II honors program at The University of Texas at Austin and his MBA at Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business. He has enjoyed a diverse career working in industries ranging from technology and telecommunications to construction products. At Bautex Systems, one day he’s hosting lunch and learn meetings with architects, and the next day, he’s building test walls with plant manager Chris Leonard (he likes to fire the air canon as much as the next guy).
Paul is proud of how the Bautex team applies itself to manufacture and test its products to ensure they perform at and above building code requirements for efficiency, storm and fire safety and sound reduction. Out of the office, Paul shares his enthusiasm for materials recycling, sustainable and green building practices and the changing landscape of the construction industry. He says the industry has a significant opportunity to develop more energy efficient and resilient structures to improve quality of life. He is currently serving a 2-year term as director of the Central Texas Balcones Chapter of US Green Building Council.
Brown says several converging themes are affecting demand for sustainable products and resilient design and construction. “Office buildings are the biggest energy users in the United States, making them one of the key drivers in the growing private and public demand for more energy efficiency,” he says. “As energy efficient and sustainable building practices become the norm, I think the market will be more interested in new products that do more with fewer resources. It’s not enough to be made of recycled material. It has to be higher performing, stronger, and safer. That’s why I’m invested in the success of Bautex Systems. We have a product and a system that really does more with less.”
