The new 2015 IECC energy codes were implemented in Austin on November 1, 2016. Architects and contractors are looking for ways to design and build energy efficient buildings with simplified construction. The new energy codes require adding insulation layers to traditional framing, which adds complexity, time and cost to construction projects. They look to Bautex as a cost-saving solution to provide energy efficient buildings that exceed more stringent energy codes well into the future.
While working as Manager of Architecture and Engineering Services with Rinker Materials in Las Vegas, we supplied over one million cubic yards of concrete and masonry building materials, such as concrete block, to the largest privately funded construction project in the United States: MGM Project City Center on the Las Vegas strip.
I love the challenge of educating architects, engineers, owners and contractors about new and innovative building materials. Upon relocating to Austin, I started a manufacturer’s representative firm which marketed lines of innovative building products with a focus on Green Building initiatives to architects, engineers and design consultants. Bautex Systems builds on that concept with the insulated concrete blocks we manufacture in San Marcos.
Music has always been a part of my life. My neighbors growing up were a family of concert pianists, and I took lessons at an early age. I have two grown sons who are musicians, one of whom is pursuing a music career. Health Alliance for Austin Musicians, known as “HAAM,” is an Austin organization which provides access to affordable healthcare for Austin’s low income, uninsured musicians. Volunteering for events to help musicians who work so hard to bring the gift of music to this city is something I feel strongly about.
