Bautex Block – Storm Safety

Meets FEMA Requirement for Storm Zone Safe Rooms

Eye of a hurricaneThrough rigorous testing performed by ICC accredited third-party laboratories, the Bautex Wall System has proven its strength, durability, and stability in extreme wind conditions, whether the windy plains of West Texas or the hurricane-vulnerable Gulf Coast.

Bautex Walls assembled with simple masonry veneer also meet ICC 500 as well as Federal Emergency Management Agency FEMA 320 and FEMA 361 guidelines for residential and community safe rooms in storm zones with potential wind speeds up to 250 miles per hour (Zone IV). By meeting the FEMA requirements for wind debris penetration, the Bautex Wall System provides tremendous levels of protection in extreme weather events, and meets insurance requirements for buildings located in hurricane and tornado prone areas of the United States. 2015 building codes require storm safe rooms for schools in tornado prone areas, this includes a large swath of north and west Texas.
