SAN MARCOS, TEXAS — June 22, 2016 — Bautex Systems today announced its durable, energy efficient insulated concrete block known as Bautex Block was selected to refurbish Austin Energy’s St. Elmo Storage Addition, located at 4411 Meinardus Dr. 78744, creating a new building envelope that exceeds international building codes for energy efficiency.
“Bautex Systems helps building owners strategize to create the most cost-effective, durable, and energy efficient building using insulated concrete block,” says Paul Brown, president of Bautex Systems. “A wall system and building envelope with Bautex Block can greatly improve the performance of existing buildings and new construction. Austin Energy stakeholders can be assured that they are advancing building science with a focus on its energy efficiency.”
"One reason it appealed to me is that it also has recycled content, and that meets our goal to divert waste from the landfill. The City of Austin has goals related to zero waste, sustainability and local fabrication, so the Bautex Block helped achieve all three,” says Betty Trent, AIA, LEED AP, principal at Architecture Plus.
Steinman-Luevano Structures is the structural engineering firm on the project. The general contractor and installing contractor for the St. Elmo Storage project is Piatra, Inc.
